England’s Gundog Glory at The Game Fair 2025
Harley had a great run at the Gamefair this year, proudly representing England against the best of the home nations, and putting in one of his trademark solid and exciting performances. Here’s a recap of the success…
Ragley Hall provided the perfect stage for the Home International Gundog Competition, where England reclaimed the crown in style. Facing off against Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, the team excelled across both spaniel and retriever tests, designed to mimic the real challenges of the shooting field.
England topped the table with 981 points, ahead of Ireland’s 958, ending the Irish winning streak. They also took home the Wilson Challenge Shield for Best Spaniel Team, while Ireland claimed the Dover Street Trophy for Best Retriever Team.
Captain David Latham praised the squad’s preparation and resilience:
“It feels great to be back at The Game Fair. The course has been tough… we knew we would need to put in the work.”
Individual stars included Steve Brewer & FTCh Roman Lucy of Spanbella (Best Spaniel) and Laura Hill & FTCh Jarailstar Hogen of Stauntonvale, who claimed both Highest Scoring Retriever and Highest Scoring Dog Overall.
The win marked not just a victory for England, but a celebration of teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship—proof that with the right preparation, it really can come home.
