Quinn Wins UGS EC Novice Trial Jan 2024

Updated: Jan 26

Suffolk Novice Gundog Trial

Rush had a run in the trial held at Ampton in Suffolk on the 8th of January 2024. Just taking a chance, I put Quinn in the truck on the off chance there'd be a dropout on the morning - and we were lucky enough to get a run.

Wind and driving snow made for a tough and very cold day in thick cover. Many hares were added to the bag to bolster the birds, and some challenging retrieves were tried for.

After running beautifully, Rush made a mistake on the last retrieve of the day and was dropped after a superb performance in her first ever trial. Quinn though, had run completely clean all day with some very long retrieves on blind and marked game when the trial was declared over after a duck drive that was very exciting.

We were fortunate enough to be awarded 1st place in a strong field of novice dogs but with very experienced handlers.

In his first 4 trials, Quinn has managed a 3rd, 2nd and now a 1st in his only trial this season.

A super tempered young dog, we'll continue working until next season to see what we can do then.

Very happy to win the same trial this year that his kennel mate Harley did two years ago.
