Introduction to Working Tests – Training Day Recap

This weekend we had the pleasure of running an “Introduction to Working Tests” day, kindly hosted by @brecklandgundogtraining.

We began with a grounding in the essentials – covering the J Regulations and a little of the history behind working tests. From there, we moved into practical examples: setting up typical test scenarios, giving handlers the chance to run through them, and offering constructive critique and advice along the way.

It was a fantastic group to work with – six handlers and four spectators – each bringing enthusiasm, support, and a genuine interest in learning. The standard of work was impressive, and the feedback afterwards was incredibly positive. But above all, what really stood out was the reminder that the most important thing is to value the effort our dogs put in for us, and to truly enjoy the partnership we build with them.

We’re already looking ahead, and it’s exciting to say that plans are forming for a two-day event next year. Huge thanks to Steve at Breckland Gundog Training for making this one possible, and to everyone who attended for making it such a success.

There’s always more to learn, more to enjoy, and more work to be done – and we can’t wait to continue the journey.
